Day trip to Kassiopi

One of our favourite places to visit in Corfu is the little seaside town of Kassiopi. Last time we were here we arrived by boat, which is way more fun! But this year we had rented a car with a toddler in tow. To be honest, the island is so small, its quick enough getting around, you just have to be ready for the hairpin bends on some of the roads. In true coast style, there are quite a few cliffs and cliff roads with massive tourist coaches approaching from the other side at times. They drive on the right here.

Whatever you do don’t rent a car from the airport, they are an absolute rip off and require to block of nearly 1K in your CC if you don’t choose the highest insurance when you book. They also wanted to charge us an extra €60 for a baby seat and then another €35 because we were arriving late in the evening. You are much better off finding a local rental place from your concierge or in our case our awesome barman who knows everyone. We got a great little car with a lend of a baby seat for free, and it was only €35/40 per day.

Anyway back to gorgeous Kassiopi, it’s a small and pretty harbour town, with the most amazing seafood, we revisited a restaurant we had been in 3 years ago on our first trip here, and the food and service did not disappoint

Beautiful sea breeze, cold Beer for Jamie, and they couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable. We had the most incredible seafood salad. Scrumptious. I love it when you sit down to fresh warm bread, olive oil and cold water that are brought straight away for refreshment. It’s the best welcome.

Around the corner, there is the cutest ice cream parlour, where we had dessert and some really lovely boutiques with greek goods. Nothing Tacky just classy Greek style wear etc.. I bought a gorgeous blue and white cotton blanket/towel throw.

Kassiopi is the kind of place that’s perfect for a dinner date and stroll, surrounded by flowers and beauty. We found it totally fine with the baby as well, she was well looked after, it was easy to get around and parking is free when you can find a spot.

Before we headed home, we visited the beach nearby, in the area. The beaches are not all golden and sandy they can be quite stoney, but we found a perfect sandy one close by, and the water was delicious and refreshing.

We didn’t stay long a the beach with Molly as the heat was too much at 31 degrees Celsius.

We definitely recommend a visit to Kassiopi if you’re in Corfu.

Have you been? What did you think?
